Reviews about Jodie Taibi in Shakespeare

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Last year Jodie played Jessica in “The Merchant of Venice” on the London fringe. Below are the reviews that I could find.

“Jodi Taibi as Jessica is a pleasure, with a charming stage presence”. Sarah Perry

“So it continues, with the focus on Jessica and her conversion to Christianity, which Jodie Taibi brings off with dignity”.  Fiona Mountford (Evening Standard)

“Jodie Taibi is excellent as the young, naïve Jessica, eager to escape her Jewish past and embrace a peroxide-blonde Christian future.” Kevin Quarmby

Below are links to a photographer`s web site where photographs of Jodie can be found which were taken during performances that she made whilst at The Central School of Speech and Drama in London. “Semi-Monde” took place in February and “Music Lessons” in June. I went to see her in “Music Lessons” and I am not biased (of course) but she stole the show. Robin Mills and Rachael Deverell and Sarah Warbey saw her in “Semi-Monde” and assured me that the same was true there.

Remember When . . . we (saturday evenings 97/ 98 Katie, Hannah Pierson and all the rest) learnt ‘BAD’ with Kate, and the following term we did ‘NIGHT FEVER’? I took performed that dance at butlins and won some terrible award at The Tiger Club Talent Awards… or something like that!! Remember  When. .  . Zoe Birkett became famous and we all watched Pop Idol on the telly in one of the saturday evening classes? Remember When. . . I took you to London with me Robin Mills, to see Zoe’s concert and you didin’t tell your mam you were stayin an extra day and night, so she reported you missing??!! Ha! Ha! ha! Remember When . . . I WON the Best Actor Oscar, Robin and you didn’t!!?? But we both won the Life Achievment Oscar and stoll the show with our comparing skills!!! We did good considering we got the script fresh fom Trudy that very morning, because AS ALWAYS she’d been up till the birds were singing writing it!! Remember When… We (Zoe Birkett) did that talent in house contest and I cried when you sang one of your many Whitney belters and you cried when i did Rita??  We cried a lot for each other when we were there! Remember When… (Saturady afternoons) we started smoking round the back of the building and as soon as we heard Trudy coming we’d throw our fags awy???

(Just in case any parents were wondering… at the time, both students were legally old enough to smoke but I`m still glad that I had such a detrimental effect. You have still never managed to let yourself smoke in front of me, have you Jodie??.. Trudy) Remember When… (Saturady afternoons) We used to have ROB for acting, who was great and we all (well some of us… the ones that loved acting the most) cried when he left? And then the Next term we got PHILL as a replacement, but we thought he was rubbish . . . AND THEN WE LOVED HIM TO IN THE END?  Remember When… (Emma Headly, Jade, ) Trudy Sent us to that audition in Newcastle? None of us Got it!! some Blonde Girl from Biker Grove did, but we all made good friends and had some pictures taken in the booth at the train station, then had a dnce and sing song and an acting show on the train on the way home?  And Finally REMEBER WHEN… Saturday Afternoons were the coolest, hotest talents about Emma Headly, Robin Mills, Zoe Birkett, Sarah and Rachel would eat all the JAMMY DODGERS and hope Trudy would never find out…. But she did, She new all along!!!   Just a few of my many, many, many, golden memories from that wonderful place called Stage Coach. Can’t wait to do Rita for you all AGAINAll My Love Always Jodie Taibi xxxxx
