Claire Woolf / Monaghan

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Claire started out as the Dance Teacher for the Friday school  and also the Dance teacher for Yarm Further Stages and Yarm Early Stages, where she teaches Singing and Drama to some Early Stages classes, as well as her Dance. Claire has been trained at The London Studio Centre which is one of the main London Drama schools but still wished to continue with more educational training so this summer has completed her mainstream teaching qualification ( PGCE), which followed on from her Dance Degree taken at Sunderland University.

In February Claire married her husband Simon to become Mrs Monaghan and went on a six week honeymoon around the world - I am NOT jealous! She lives in the Londonderry Arms pub that they run in Long Newton (very nice food - I can recommend it).

Claire has taught, since its inception, the All Boys Dance Class at The QE College, Darlington from 7.30pm until 9.00pmon Friday evenings.  Claire has done a remarkable job with them. They are a strong and skilled group of boys who get on really well together.

If we ask nicely, Claire might send us a photo of the wedding……. pretty please…

I have been fortunate to work for Stagecoach for the past two years, during which time I have been made to feel very welcome, not only as a valued member of the team, but also with support and guidance.

A lot has happened in my personal and professional life, within these two years, not only have I successfully completed my dance degree, and just recently my post graduate teaching certificate in dance but I also got hitched !!.

I have been fortunate to teach the whole range of levels at Stagecoach, from Early Stages, Main School, Further Stages and most recently the introduction of the Billy Elliot Boys Only classes. As much as I enjoy teaching all of my classes, I have particularly enjoyed being the pioneering teacher for the Billy Elliot class. The boys have really blown me away with their talent and enthusiasm for the subject, and I have achieved a great deal of satisfaction from seeing them develop.

This Saturday’s performance should be one to remember for a long time, and I look forward to spending the next ten years with Stagecoach.

A Message From Claire - Returning Soon

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Wow! London west end performance was a triumph. I’ve never been more proud of all the hard work the boys put into the performance and rehearsals leading up to it. A huge thank you to Janie for holding the fort whilest I was away having baby no. 2, she did a fab job of keeping the boys up to scatch and clean with the material.

Really looking forward to coming back to stagecoach in September and starting some new exciting things with the boys, as indeed I am with all my classes.

See you all very soon

Welcome to Claire`s New Baby Boy

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Claire Monaghan, our Dance teacher from Darlington Friday School, Boys Only Dance Class and Yarm Further Stages and our Yarm Early Stages teacher,  sent me a text yesterday to say that she had given birth to a little boy (a future recruit for the Boys Only Dance Class), who is to be called Miles Thomas. Miles weighed in at 7lbs 9ozs at 1.45pm on Thursday 30th April. Apparently he was delivered by his dad Simon - in the car! Further details not known…… It`s my guess that he danced his way into the world, being as Claire was still teaching on 5th April

You can all say aah! now!!

Claire`s baby is born

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Claire Monaghan, our dance teacher from Friday nights, and Early Stages teacher on Sundays, who is currently on maternity leave, gave birth last week to a little girl, weighing in at 5lbs 14 ozs. She is to be named Clara Belle Monaghan. Mum and baby are doing well and there are some photos of the new arrival below.  All our best wishes go to “the proudest parents on earth” (Claire`s quote).  Simon, Clara`s dad, and the landlord of the Londonderry Arms in Long Newton, will doubtless have been “wetting the baby`s head” with the regulars.

Staff Changes - Claire`s maternity leave

Monday, December 17th, 2007
