Take Part in Guinness World Record to Dance to “Thriller”

Monday, October 5th, 2009

thrillerposter

I received this information about this event which may be of interest to many of our students. The timing of the record attempt is late - early hours of the morning - but it is on a Saturday night so no school the next day. It is part of a whole series of groups around the world dancing to Thriller at the same time with a three pronged purpose - to break a Guinness World record, to pay a tribute to Michael Jackson`s music and to raise funds for Cancer Research (which is a charity close to our own hearts this year with our Christmas Concert planned for December). The details are below

We hope you, your friends, colleagues and classmates can participate and thank you in advance for your participation and supporting Cancer Research UK and breaking world records.

Thrill The World: an annual worldwide simultaneous dance of Michael Jacksons “Thriller” for world records and charity. A Tribute to Michael Jackson.

Go to www.myspace.com/ttw09darlington  for full details and to learn the dance.  For further information go to  ww.thrilltheworld.com

An Adult Registration Form is below,  please complete and return to us as soon as possible (every person must complete a form).  Fill out and hand in to the Dolphin Centre Reception staff.   You cannot participate if you have not completed and signed this document.  If you are under 18, please request a junior form to complete by ringing one of the phone numbers on the poster, sending an e mail or asking at the Dolphin Centre.

On receipt of your completed registration form, I will send you a
sponsorship form.  If possible collect all your sponsors before the night and bring in an envelope with your sponsorship form to the event and post in one of the collection boxes.

People can just turn up and complete on the evening but we would prefer everyone to have registered prior to the event.  Our team will be extremely busy on the night and do not wish to be sat doing admin that could have been done prior to Thriller time.  To cover the various costs involved in this charity event we will ask for a pledge of £3-4 on the evening for your participation to ensure Cancer Research get every penny of your sponsor money.

We have entertainment, a DJ, disco, make up, buffet and much more on the evening as well as TV, Radio and press present so be prepared and start making your zombie costume now.

Workshops are being scheduled for groups, individuals, basically anyone to come along and learn the dance.  Its extremely easy to learn using simple basic instructions.  We will email you with workshop dates once they are confirmed.  However you can learn the dance by watching the online learning videos on the official thrill the world website
