Saturday, May 8th, 2010

Little Shop of Horrors poster

Our Dance teacher Claire from Darlington Friday School, Yarm Further Stages, Yarm Early Stages and the Boys Only Dance Classes is starring as Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors” at Middlesbrough Little Theatre from Monday 17th to Friday 24th May, with Redcar Operatic.

On Tuesday 18th May I am going to see the show and am happy to accompany any students who would like to go and see the show that night because there are special concessionary student tickets of £5 each. If you would like your child to go then please e mail me on t.hindmarsh15@btinternet.com and we will make arrangements to get some tickets. The deadline before I buy them will be WEDNESDAY evening May 12th so I can buy them on Thursday morning. Parents can meet me outside the theatre to drop off their child and collect them there after the show.

`Little Shop of Horrors` is a very popular musical with young people.

Nominate a Child that You Know for a National Stagecoach Award

Monday, March 1st, 2010

I include here the press release sent out recently to the local and national press because it contains everything you need to know

THE STAGECOACH  THEATRE ARTS AWARDS LAUNCHED AT THE PALACE OF WESTMINSTER.

Stagecoach Theatre Arts, the world’s largest part-time children’s performing arts school has launched its children’s achievement’s awards at the House of Commons.

The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Awards, announced at a reception at the House of Commons Terrace Pavilion, hosted by Shadow Arts Minister, Ed Vaizey MP will acknowledge and reward children’s achievements during 2010.

The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Awards whose patrons include Viscountess Mackintosh of Halifax and Sir Bernard Ingham, will recognise, acknowledge and reward young people from all walks of life who have either faced adversity, demonstrated bravery, shown courage, cared for others and are good role models for young citizens.  Friends of the Stagecoach Awards include: Actors Lynda Bellingham and Lynda Baron, RADA, Spotlight, The Stage, Daily Express, Ten Alps and The Mackintosh Foundation.

Former actor, Stephanie Manuel founded Stagecoach 21 years ago with banker David Sprigg, today Stagecoach has 624 schools in the UK with 36,000 students. Stagecoach schools also operate in Australia, Canada, Germany, Greece, Malta, Spain and the USA.

Stephanie said: “Throughout the years, Stagecoach has been aware of a number of students who have displayed enormous courage and endurance. Students, who have suffered bereavement, family break-up, accidents and illness and who have faced circumstances where they have been required to become carers.

“These young people, and many others not involved with Stagecoach, are the unsung heroes of the next generation and it is Stagecoach and InterAct’s pleasure and privilege to be able to support these Awards; a fitting celebration for our 21st year.”

Trudy Hindmarsh, Stagecoach principal in Darlington and Yarm adds: “Stagecoach will be seeking nominations from people in the Tees Valley region during 2010. The awards are open to young people aged between four and 18.

Trudy adds: “If you can think of anyone who deserves recognition and who would be a good role model for other young people, then please think about making a nomination. We will be delighted to hear from you.”

Nominations will be accepted for any child regardless of whether or not they attend a Stagecoach School.

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

  • The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Award for Bravery - recognising young people who have demonstrated courage.

The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Good Buddy Award -recognising young people who have proved to be good role models.

The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Young Citizen Award - recognising young people who have demonstrated community spirit, innovation and leadership.

The InterAct Award - for outstanding achievement through adversity.

The awards will be presented at The House of Commons on Tuesday 9th November 2010 at an awards ceremony hosted by Ed Vaizey MP. Finalists and their parents, as well as those who have nominated the youngsters will be invited to attend.
