We enter any of our students, annually, who want to try for exams with LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Drama). Our eldest Further Stages students (aged over 15 years) enter grades which are worth UCAS points for university entrance - equivalent up to `A` Level standard.
Across the last few years the results have been consistently high and time and again we have broken previous records with the quality of our results. At the end of term this happened again. 17 senior students were entered for grades 6 to 8 in Acting with LAMDA and 14 of these earned distinctions (marks of 80% and above). The other candidates all did well and gained merits (over 65%). One candidate - Sally Messham, gained the highest mark that any of our students have EVER gained with 94%.
The examiner`s comment to me after seeing Sally`s performance was that it was the best performance of one particular character that he had ever seen in his life - and he had just been to see that play in the West End recently - as you might imagine, that meant a lot to Sally.
It is wonderful to be able to help students to achieve tangible progress in their Drama and to help them to gain extra qualifications which might help them to get into university, in these difficult times.
Here is Sally - definitely an actress to watch for the future. Remeber that you saw her here first!
