Macy IS Debbie in the West End.

After tonight, Macy Stasiak is the new Debbie in the all-new cast of `Billy Elliot` in the West End. We have known for some time of Macy`s success but it has all been under official wraps at the London end.
Macy is the second girl from Stagecoach Darlington that has won this part AND from exactly the same Stagecoach Darlington school - Saturday AM. Annabelle Crosby played Debbie, in the West End, for a year, a couple of years ago and now it is Macy`s turn. Macy was inspired by Annabelle`s success and also by being one of the `ballet girls` in our own productions of `Billy Elliot` in 2010, when we entered the Billy Youth Theatre project. We were lucky enough to get down to the final 14 groups (out of 115) selected to perform in the West End Showcase of that project, which meant that Macy has danced on that same West End stage before tonight.
Macy was with us this Saturday AM, as of old, and was VERY excited about opening in the show. Here she is with her Stage 2 friends. Break a leg, Macy!! When I get to know which shows Macy is performing in I will post it to the site in case anyone wants to go down to see her.
A rash of websites have news of Macy after her debut performance on Monday 14th November and the links are below. Macy`s mum said Macy`s first show was `fantastic! No mistakes, she thoroughly enjoyed herself.`

Macy`s mum reported that Macy had been to an after-show party on Monday and the show`s Drama coach had said that he had never had a more talented and professional child, as Macy, to train and that he thought she would end up at RADA. It doesn`t get much better than that!!

The Forum is a website for `Billy Elliot` fans and here are comments taken from there about Macy`s performance:-
Welcoming the 2 new Child cast we saw in Macy (age 9) a mini Emily Smith in many ways and displaying a level of competance that belies her years.
Macy was excellent. She is definitely a new Emily Smith and I did like her facial expressions and attitude throughout – she is a little minx and a great asset to the show.
It was a very confident debut from Kaine and new Debbie, Macy, who despite her age, looks and acts a lot more mature than a 9 year old. No nerves from either of them. It was as if both of them had been in the show for years with their relaxed and confident performances. One of the best Billy and Debbie debuts I have seen

I just wanted to say that although I am biased having been Macy’s first Stagecoach teacher, I must say she was absolutely awesome playing Debbie in Billy Elliot at Victoria Palace, London. She was charming and cheeky and you couldn’t take your eyes off her. She deserves all her excellent reviews and if you get the opportunity, don’t hesitate to go and see her….perhaps try to catch myself or Trudy so that we could tell you when she is on stage. Well done Macy honey, Hannah-Lucy and I are so proud of you xx
