Little Shop of Horrors - Students Night - Come on and See Claire!

Our Dance teacher Claire from Darlington Friday School, Yarm Further Stages, Yarm Early Stages and the Boys Only Dance Classes is starring as Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors” at Middlesbrough Little Theatre from Monday 17th to Friday 24th May, with Redcar Operatic.
On Tuesday 18th May I am going to see the show and am happy to accompany any students who would like to go and see the show that night because there are special concessionary student tickets of £5 each. If you would like your child to go then please e mail me on t.hindmarsh15@btinternet.com and we will make arrangements to get some tickets. The deadline before I buy them will be WEDNESDAY evening May 12th so I can buy them on Thursday morning. Parents can meet me outside the theatre to drop off their child and collect them there after the show.
`Little Shop of Horrors` is a very popular musical with young people.

Newspaper review that Claire sent across this morning. Great Claire - but then we would expect nothing less!!
Redcar Operatic Society literally fills the entire stage with its latest star, a large man eating plant. Little Shop of Horrors is their latest production and the key element is fun with great tunes and more than a few surprises along the way. This bouncy production is hilariously launched by the finger-wagging, excellent vocal talents of girl group trio Jacqui Ferguson, Rachel Formby- Jackson and Dawn Oostdijck
Clare Monaghan as the definitive abused shop girl, Audrey, who suffers at the hands of the dentist but dreams of “Somewhere that’s Green” (and not, poor girl, the insides of a triffid-like omnivore). What she does with that one song, on four layers of sentiment – suburban fantasy, regret, camp pathos, and innocent charm – is quite amazing.
James Patterson shines as the nerd turned champion botanist, Seymour. Jeff Sturdy as the Jewish shop owner Mushnik and George Boomsma displays some excellent comedy timing as the sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello . Watch out for his extra appearances in other minor roles in the second act!
The plant is vocalised by John Milestone in splendid black and bluesy style, and operated by Mickey Naylor who does a mighty fine job.
A great set with more plants than Alan Titchmarsh has seen in a long time and a good laugh is to be had by all. Go and see it, it’s on till Saturday.
