LAMDA exams
Every Summer Term, all main school and Further Stages students are given the opportunity of taking individual tuition for the purpose of sitting exams in “The Speaking of Verse and Prose” or “Acting” with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). This is one of the most famous drama schools in the world and a very well respected exam board.
In their higher grades these exams are accredited by the government to be worth UCAS points for university. When sitting these higher grades, more tuition time is needed so some students sit their exams in the Autumn Term. There is a cost to parents for these exam fees and for the necessary individual tuition.
In the past, we have also submitted all our main schools and Further Stages for Trinity College exams in Group Musical Theatre, every two years. These exam fees are paid by me and are a way for every student to be able to build up a bank of qualifications and performance repertoire.
As from September 2009, I will not be continuing with the Trinity College exams but will be transferring across to equivalent LAMDA exams instead. The fees will still be borne by me.
The next cycle for these exams will be examined in the last week of the Spring Term 2010 - Wednesday 24th, Thursday 25th, Friday 26th, Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th March, so please try not to book holiday at this time, if your children are main school or Further Stages students.
In all the examinations that we have sat over a 12 year period, we have a 97% pass rate, with over 80% getting higher grades of MERIT or DISTINCTION. One of our students - Jodie Taibi won through to be one of the top ten students in the country in her grade and had to go to LAMDA Headquarters to compete against other students there. Jodie is now teaching LAMDA with us and her fist batch of students sat their exams in July.
