Save the Date - And Beat The Drum For Stagecoach!!

Positive Beats  (http://www.positivebeats.co.uk/ ) - who do drumming circle workshops for all kinds of occasions and all age groups are performing at The Mela (Asian Festival) in Albert Park, Middlesbrough on Sunday 19th July (the afternoon is the most likely time but will confirm as a comment to this post when a definite decision has been made).  It involves active crowd participation and our students have been particularly invited to take an active part in proceedings with percussion rhythm making and dance steps that will be generated by the drumming.  Any age group is welcome from Early Stages to Further Stages and if you possess one, we would like you to wear your Stagecoach T shirt.

Dear TrudyI set up Positive Beats to provide recreational drumming/drum circles, as
opportunities to engage individuals of all ages and abilities, within a
variety of settings, mainly community, corporate, educational and health.
Everyone can take part. For example, at the event on Sunday we had toddlers
drumming, a older chap, with his wife mentioning that he had Alzheimer’s,
children, teenagers, adults, people with a disability etc.  What is great is
that within a minutes there are smiles on faces, and strangers all start
coming together, to make music, but more importantly connect!

Group drumming has significant proven benefits, and is a thriving business
in America, being described as the new yoga for health and well being and
the new ‘ropes course’ for team building.  Recreational drumming also
provides ‘flow’, a positive psychology term, for a state of enjoyment and
relaxation that allow individuals, communities, and teams to thrive.  In our
society there seems to be the music makers and the rest become passive
listeners, but Positive Beats aims to show that there is rhythm in all of
us, and to bring back that community spirit.
