Further Stages Prom Night - a stunning success!
Monday 29th June saw both the Darlington Further Stages and the Yarm Further Stages come together to have a joint Prom`s night and entertain one another. We held it in the function room of “Chambers” in Duke Street Darlington, which is owned by the parents of Ryan, Jamie and Daniel Stainsby of the Thursday Darlington School. It was the perfect size and ambiance for the event.
The whole evening was remarkable for the quality of entertainment that it produced from only 35 students - over 2 hours worth. Groups had been trained in Singing and Dance classes during Further stages sessions by Cat Rea and Janie Lavelle and then pairs and solo performers volunteered to perform pieces that they had prepared themselves.
Each group had a couple of hours in the afternoon to rehearse their pieces and then the event started at 7pm. There was a wonderful friendly atmosphere and genuine support and appreciation for one another. It was an alcohol free zone even though it was licensed premises and everyone proved that young people can have a great time without any artificial fuel. The night ended with both groups up together singing “Seasons of Love”
As I said at the end of the evening, there have been certain times in my career when I have been humbled to see a snapshot of the contribution that Stagecoach can make to the lives of young people who come to be “one of the family”, every weekend. Monday night was one of those times. It was a privilege and a pleasure to be there and I salute the lovely young people that made it a night to remember. SO - it will now be an annual event!
Special thanks to Janie and Cat who had a long pressured day with rehearsals and the event and also for Cat for lending us her own sound equipment to make the event really buzz.
Below are photos of the varied performance pieces that happened during the evening - in the order in which they happened largely speaking but there may be one or two glitches.
I hope Further Stages will send in their photos and comments about the night to yarm@stagecoach.co.uk

Thank you again for inviting me to last night. I had a fantastic time! It was really nice to catch up with everyone!
All of the performances were fantastic - I loved every single one. I actually got a little bit emotional watching because not only did I realise how much I have missed Stagecoach, I also felt so proud to have once been a part of it all. Well done to everybody involved!
