Danceathon Booked for Darlington - Any Young Person Welcome
I have received this e mail from the Youth Service and would recommend the event to you as something worthwhile to do in the Christmas period
Dear All,
As you maybe aware Darlington Borough Council have received funding to extend Friday and Saturday night activity for young people in Darlington between Nov 2008 and March 2009.
Therefore a series of events and activities have been planned for December and information can be found below.
Please distribute and promote to the young people you work with and encourage them to attend either as individuals or feel free to attend as a group.
The Dance-athon letter and registration is for any groups wishing to attend, but please also promote as an open event and inform young people that they can just turn up on the day.
If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Jo

RE: 12 Hour Donkey Dance-athon
Hello,
I am writing to you on behalf of the rE-view project which works towards giving young people (aged 11-25) the chance to review and publish online their thoughts on anything affecting/ of interest to them.
This Christmas we are interested in running a campaign in support of the charity Oxfam. We are organising a 12 hour sponsored dance and are looking to gain support from as many individual/groups of young people as possible. Ideally everyone involved would participate for at lease a half-hour/one hour session but groups/individuals are more than welcome to participate for longer. Sessions will range from performances (prepared routines) to workshops based on break dance, contemporary, street cheer, swing dance and high school musical.
We propose to run this event on Saturday 20 December between 10am and 10pm and will be dancing at the Arts Centre (Vane Terrace, Darlington). Should this event be successful, we will look to run a larger event in 2009, possibly a 24-hour danceathon in the town centre.
Although we are running this event to raise money for Oxfam if young people would like to participate but do not have time to collect sponsorship they would still be welcome to attend.
In order to kick-start the 12 hour danceathon, we would like to know if you are willing to participate in this sponsored event. If so please contact Joanne King, Youth Offer Co-ordinator from Darlington Youth Service on 01325 346459.
Yours faithfully,
Jeyda Heselton
(Casual Youth Support Worker on the rEview project)
