Second Performance Opportunity for Early Stages

2nd July 2008

Dear Parents,

RE:- ANOTHER PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY FOR EARLY STAGES PLUS UPDATE ON BISHOP AUCKLAND PERFORMANCE

Bishop Auckland

We have now learnt that there is a contingency plan in place, at Bishop Auckland (4th August) in case of heavy rain. They have hired the town hall, so that performances can take place inside there where necessary.

Newton Aycliffe Show

It is not often that we can offer our littlest students opportunities to perform AND without auditioning,  but we have now got ANOTHER such event across the Summer.

On Sunday 24th August, at Newton Aycliffe Show, there is to be another opportunity to sing “Teddy Bear`s Picnic” and dance to “Bear Necessities”. This time it is in a marquee and on a stage!   We have been invited to take our Early Stages children along   to do a dance to  “The Bear Necessities”  and sing  “Teddy Bear`s Picnic”.   We know that there will be 2 spots for the performance -  we hope around 12 noon, and 2pm.  But this will have to be confirmed by the organisers at the end of July. IF AT THAT TIME I DISCOVER THAT THIS IS NOT THE CASE, I WILL LET YOU KNOW. IF YOU HEAR NOTHING, THEN PLEASE ASSUME THAT THESE TIMINGS ARE CORRECT.  Parents can attend with their children on one or both of these spots.

It costs about £1 entry fee into the showground and there is public parking organised nearby.  The Playhouse Marquee  is the  tent that the performances are taking place in and I am told that this is close to the entrance of the showground. I would ask parents to gather  at 11.30am for the 12 noon performance and 1.30pm for the 2pm start.

Costume

The costuming is to be the same as previously.  I repeat it here for those who may not have been able to do the Bishop Auckland event and have discarded the original letter.

The mask would need to be made up and decorated and worn ON TOP of the head, not over the face. We are asking you to model the colours used on the mask to that of a teddy bear that the child will carry and the colour of their top and trousers should also blend into the colour of the bear carried. (There is nothing wrong with a pink or blue teddy bear, so long as everything co-ordinates with the bear carried). Parents should bring their child ready dressed, as there are no changing facilities.

It would be better if the mask could have a 2D effect - being covered with snips of fur fabric or rolled up bits of tissue paper, or material, or felt, rather than being coloured in with felt pens. We know that we have some very creative mums and dads!

Please also  bring suitable top clothing,  in case we get interrupted by rain, because even though it is under-cover for the performance, you will still have to get to and from the car park.

If you would like your child to take part in this event then please complete the pro-forma at the end of this letter and return to Stagecoach by the end of  July, either by handing in to Trudy or posting to 71 Woolsington Drive, Middleton St George, Darlington, DL2 1UL.

Best regards,

Trudy
