Elliot One Step Nearer to Being “Billy Elliot”
Elliot Allinson who is fresh from his performing success in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” as Jeremy Potts, at the Sunderland Empire Theatre, has now been chosen by the West-End`s “Billy Elliot” casting personnel to go to Newcastle across the summer, on an intensive training programme in Dance, paid for by them, with a view to perhaps his being offered a place in the Leeds “Billy School” should he be successful. Elliot is hoping that the fact that his christian name is the same as Billy Elliot`s surname will be a good omen.
We are thrilled for Elliot, as, besides attending Darlington Friday regular Stagecoach classes, he also attends our ground-breaking ” Stagecoach All boy Dance Class” in Darlington and has not been trained anywhere else, other than Stagecoach - so he is `home-grown`!
Despite “Billy Elliot” being a north-east story, there never has been a north-east “Billy” playing in the West End. After Jamie Bell starting his professional film life with us, we are hoping that Elliot can deliver the goods a second time around in a stage career.
Elliot joins Annabelle Crosby as a “Billy Elliot Cast Member in Waiting”, because she is now down to the last two to get the part of Debbie in the stage show. Annabelle has been in Dance training in Newcastle for a year and returns to London in September, to learn whether she has been successful. Annabelle attends Darlington Stagecoach on Saturdays
